Former Alaska resident George R. Bing, 82, died Feb. 26, 2008, in Seattle.
A service was held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Seattle with burial at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Sioux City, Iowa, he grew up in Renton, Wash., before joining the U.S. Navy and serving aboard the USS Washington during World War II.
After his graduation from the University of Montana, he and his wife, Lucille, brought their young family to Alaska in 1953. George worked for years in the food brokerage business.
In 1974, he and Lucille returned to Seattle, where he had since lived. After Lucille's death in 1984, he married Saundra, who survives him.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Trish and Joe Wilson of Chugiak; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Pam Bing of Novato, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Jesse, Kelly and Molly.
