Anchorage resident Virginia Lindsay Luckey, 24, died Aug. 8, 2007, at home.
A celebration of her life will be at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at Hilltop Chalet at Hilltop Ski area on Abbott Road. Refreshments and potluck appetizers will be served.
Lindsay was born May 31, 1983, in Anchorage, where she was raised. She attended Service High School, graduating with honors in 2001. Lindsay received a scholarship to Willamette University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies and a minor in German.
After graduation, she taught English as a Second Language in Japan. She returned to Alaska in May 2006.
Lindsay enjoyed music, books, hiking, cross-country skiing, and spending time with family members and friends. Her family wrote: "She had a sense of adventure, loved travel, spending a semester abroad in Germany, a summer as an au pair in France, and time in Europe on family visits.
"She was a competitive soccer player with the Goldstrikers for many years and played on the Service varsity Girls team during her four years in high school.
"Lindsay had a clever wit and was very creative. She enjoyed working with different art media and had recently taken an interest in drawing figures and photography. She had a glowing personality and made friends easily with people from all generations.
"Lindsay will be lovingly remembered for her intelligence, beauty and grace, her wonderful personality and sense of humor, and for her love of life."
Lindsay is survived by her parents, Ken and Gina Luckey, and sister, Jennifer, all of Anchorage; grandparents, Ken and Ruth Luckey of Portland, Ore.; grandmother, Virginia S. Youngblood of Medford, Ore.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many close family friends.
Memorial contribrutions made be sent to Alaska Junior Theater, Kincaid Park Project or the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
