Gaither D. Paul Gaither D. Paul died in Fairbanks of a long-term lung illness on Dec. 25, 2007.

He was born in a spring camp to David Paul and Lucy Luke and was raised in Dik Thaad. As a young man, he worked as a trapper and gold dredger. Gaither worked on the clearing of the Alaska Highway in 1942. He was strong in his language and traditions.

He was a retired state of Alaska maintenance worker. Gaither and his wife, Bee, adopted 11 children and helped care for more than 500 foster
