Former Juneau resident Duane Louis Price died Feb. 23, 2008, at his home in Burlington, Wash., after battling lung cancer for several years. He was 74.

Born Jan. 7, 1934, into a large family, he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1953 and was stationed in Juneau until 1959. Also during that year, he married Karyn (Boggan) Price.

Between 1961 and 1965, he attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he graduated with a degree in business administration.

He returned to Juneau and soon became the assessor for the city of Juneau. Thereafter, he went to work for Evergreen Ford, where he worked until his retirement in 1994, when he moved to Burlington.

He is survived by his brother, Roger Price; sister, Julie Smith; adopted son, Tim Price; and several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated. His ashes will be scattered near Juneau at some future date. His sister, Julie Smith, may be contacted at 14651 NE 40th B-1, Bellevue, WA 98007
