Petra 'Peaches' Conrad

Longtime Juneau resident Petra "Peaches" Conrad died peacefully on Feb. 22, 2008, at the Juneau Pioneers' Home. She was 82.

She was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Seattle, to Benjamin and Genevieve DuBuque. She married Clifford Conrad on June 19, 1942, and they moved to Cordova in 1949. From Cordova, they moved to Ketchikan, Sitka, Idaho Inlet and finally to Juneau. She and Cliff fished commercially in the Cross Sound to Sitka Sound areas and loved living in the Bush, her family said. They spent many years as commercial fish buyers in the Cross Sound area.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Genevieve Conrad and her husband, Russ Senkovich; sons, Steven Conrad and Clifford Conrad and his wife, Debi Doyle; grandchildren, Josephine Dawson and her husband, Dan, KellyAnn Bonnell and her husband, John, Sean and Michael Conrad, Kevin Conrad and his wife, Christy, Nikki Lynch and her husband, Del, and JoAnn Jonte; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Juneau Pioneers' Home. Flowers or donations may be sent to the Juneau Pioneers' Home Council
