A Kenai church youth leader has been charged with three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. 46-year-old Richard Wagner was arrested on April 18th and charged with second-degree sexual assault of a minor.
Wagner was initially under investigation for possessing videos of child pornography on his computer. According to State Troopers law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania contacted them back in January to inform them that Wager may have had child porn videos on his computer.
An investigation carried out by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force provided the evidence needed for investigators to obtain a federal warrant to search Wagner's home in Kenai, according to Alaska State Troopers.
In the course of the search local law enforcement, troopers and FBI found child porn on Wagner's computer. During an interview Wagner made some admissions that led investigators to the alleged victim.
Troopers said Wagner, who is single and lives alone, told authorities he had at least two boys overnight at his house unsupervised.
Following this admission investigators began speaking with the children who were involved, one of which accused Wagner of sexually abusing him.
For almost three years Wagner has worked as a volunteer at the nondenominational Kenai Bible Church teaching Sunday school to children.
Wagner is scheduled for a hearing on the 21st to determine whether or not bail is a possibility.
