Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a South Anchorage sporting goods store. 23 year-old Joe Alfred Young Jr. of Anchorage died at a local hospital Thursday following the 1 p.m. shooting outside the Sports Authority store at Old Seward Highway. Police say witnesses saw shots fired into a gray Ford Explorer
parked in the lot. The victim, who was sitting in the back seat, was shot in the chest and neck.

Police say the shooter fled in a green sedan, with at least one
passenger inside.
