Mother of Accused Murderer Has Forgiveness

The mother of a teenager accused of stabbing to death four people, including her parents, said she has forgiven her son -- and knows her parents would, too. Kathy Jack spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday in Sitka as she stood and watched police load the bodies of her parents into a hearse in front of the home where they were murdered. Her 18-year-old son, Jason Alex Abbott, has been charged with four counts of murder, accused of killing Jack's parents, her
sister and her sister's fiance. She says she's spoken to her son, and told him she loves him.

Jack says, "My parents would feel the same if one of them was here. They would forgive and forget. And that's how our family was." Jack said she is a devout member of the local Pentecostal church, and time spent there has already helped her cope. She says, "I know my son needs a lot of prayer."
