Alaska Lawmaker Asks for Natural Gas Inquiry

Alaska state Rep. Jay Ramras has asked the governor to investigate the resignation of a natural gas adviser, saying he believes key state officials tried to block a study of a proposed natural gas pipeline.

The governor's office began the study last winter on a plan to pipe gas from Alaska to North American markets.

The study's coordinator, Harry Noah, said last month he would quit early.

In a letter to Gov. Sean Parnell on Tuesday, Ramras said Noah's
resignation was prompted by political fighting between supporters of two proposed pipeline projects.

Ramras, a Fairbanks Republican, urged Parnell to personally interview Noah and other members of the study's team.
