Lawmakers will soon be taking the special session on the road. Come Tuesday the legislature in Juneau will come to a close as lawmakers leave town.

The break comes only one week after the legislation met in Juneau to discuss the proposal made by TransCanada in regards to the Alaska Gas Inducement Act (AGIA). The House and Senate hearings on Governor Sarah Palin's natural gas pipeline proposal will continue in cities throughout the state.

The purpose of the special session tour is to give the public a direct voice in the hearings in one of the more crucial votes lawmakers have faced in decades: Should the state award TransCanada Corp. a gas pipeline license?

After Tuesday, Lawmakers will spend the next four weeks traveling to different cities around the state. Fairbanks, Anchorage, Palmer, Kenai, Barrow and Ketchikan are all slated for local hearings.

In 60 days the legislature will make their decision on the TransCanada plan.
