Numbers released by the Denali National Park continue to indicate that the tourist season is one of the weakest in memory. Park officials report that visitor numbers are down 13-percent so far this year.
As reported by the park's public affairs office, thus far only 143,514 visitors have entered Denali, where as last year's figures at this time were at 164,324.
According to Kris Fister, the park's public affairs manager, camping reservations have dropped 17-percent through June 22.
To convince more Alaskans to visit the park, some business have begun to offer bargains and deals. For example, Denali Park Resorts is offering half-price deals, a gas card and specials on tours and activities.
