With Nome and the finish line just 171-miles away, Lance Mackey looks to be headed toward his third consecutive Iditarod victory.

He remains firmly in command of The Last Great Race.

Mackey was the first to arrive in the Village of Koyuk just before noon yesterday. He was 5-hours ahead of Canadian Sebastian Schnuelle.

Mackey's team has shown no signs of tiring or slowing down. His dogs were faster Thursday coming over the Kaltag Portage in wind and minus-30 degree temperatures, then there were on Saturday mushing up the Yukon.

Jeff King was asked if he can catch Mackey before Nome to which King said the mushers are having quite a time, "keeping up with him, never mind catching him."
