Continued rain in the interior of Alaska is giving firefighters a break after a worse than average fire season. The wet weather is helping soak down the largest fire in the state, the Railbelt Complex Fire, which is currently at 632,000 acres burned. Crews are also working on several other fires such as the Crazy Mountain Complex, which is at 447,000 acres burned and the Hard Luck Fire which has had no growth since last week and remains a top priority for the 500 firefighters battling the blaze. That fire is about 40 percent contained and is at about 13,000 acres burned. Crews expect to have it contained by next week. The National Weather Service is calling for more of the cooler, wet weather fore the rest of the week, hopefully putting an end to this exceptionally bad fire season.
