A motorcyclist is dead after losing control and crashing into a guard rail on a bend on State Route 2, the Elliott Highway.
Alaska State Troopers say 21-year-old Heather Nicole Rini of Fort Wainwright died at the scene Saturday afternoon. She was going
northbound and uphill on a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle with a group of
motorcycles at the time.
An autopsy was pending.
The crash snarled traffic on the road north of Fairbanks for about two hours. Many of the stalled vehicles were pickups towing boats and trailers for the start of the moose hunting season.
