A spokesman for the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District says some parents decided to keep their children home from school Tuesday because of fears about the swine flu.

A 10-year-old Hunter Elementary School student died last week after contracting it.

Spokesman Bill Bailey says its unclear exactly how many parents kept their kids home because of the boy's death, but some cited it. He says superintendent Nancy Wagner is sending letters to parents outlining the district's plan to limit the spread of swine flu.
