Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced Thursday it is starting seasonal summer service to Fairbanks International Airport.

The nonstop flights from Denver will start May 14 and continue four days a week through Sept. 12.

Praising the news is Deb Hickok, president and CEO of the Fairbanks Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Hickok says expanded air service is critical to the growth of Interior Alaska's tourism industry.

Frontier launched seasonal summer service to Anchorage in 2004.
