Chad news

After six days of searching, the Coast Guard announced Thursday that the search has been called off. Two men departed on a trip from Juneau to Ketchikan on February 20, but the search did not begin until February 23.

Mike Dunne of Ketchikan, 45, and Vern Mcgee of Juneau, 47, are still missing, but a door found Wednesday was confirmed to be apart of their vessel. The Transition's door was found on Kupreanof Island in Frederick Sound.

A combined effort of two cutters, helicopters, and the Civil Air Patrol, searched 6,700 square miles of water and shoreline. Boats from Sitka, Juneau and Petersburg also contributed to the effort.
