Chad news

In Juneau record snowfall on Thursday crushed a previous record that had held for 60 years. Well over six inches of snow fall contributed to the new record on Thursday, ending the old record that had occurred back in 1948 on the same day.

7.5 inches of snow was recorded by the National Weather Service at Juneau International Airport. 1.1 inches was the previous record.

The storm responsible for the record hit Wednesday night, dropping a total of 10.5 inches at the airport, 12.5 inches at the weather service's Juneau office and 9 inches downtown.

According to meteorologist Brian Bezenek, Juneau has seen double the average amount of precipitation so far this month.

Dry weather has been forecast for the weekend.
