Dozens of vehicles in the area of Abbot Road and Little Creek Drive were vandalized early Friday. Anchorage police arrested Frank Grubbs for slashing the tires of vehicles parked on the aforementioned streets.
At about 2:40 a.m., a woman witnessed a man slashing tires, and reported it to police. Within minutes officers responded, finding Grubbs and a large knife hidden behind a vehicle on Little Creek Drive and South Circle.
A report issued by the Anchorage police department stated that 44 vehicles were affected by the incident and that a total of 60 tires were slashed. A K-9 police cruiser also had its tires slashed by the vandal.
Estimates put the damage at $15,000.
Vehicles parked on the street and in driveways of residents of Uno Circle, North Circle, Little Creek Drive and South Circle were affected by Grubb's actions.
21-year-old Grubbs was arrested and charged with two counts of Criminal Mischief. One of the counts was for disabling a police service vehicle.
Grubbs is currently being held at the Anchorage Jail. His bail is set at $2,500 and requires he be picked up by a third party custodian.
