Flood Threat Still Lingers For Salcha Area Residents

A flood watch will remain in effect in the Salcha area through Friday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) reported on Thursday that ice continues to run in the Tanana River.

With the ice still running, the potential of flooding is still high. This flood watch is based on current forecasts, and assuming there is no significant change in weather patterns, waters should recede to safe levels on Friday.

The NWS warned that residents in flood prone areas, "should be prepared to take action should flooding develop."

The NWS also recommends that all should monitor later forecasts and watch for possible flood warnings.
