A snowmachiner died over the Mother's Day weekend. 28-year-old Karl Jabas of Anchorage fell into a crevasse, his machine fell on top of him.

Alaska State Troopers said the victim was accomponied by four other riders, who were riding in a snow field between Spencer and Trial glaciers on Saturday, when the incident happened.

Rescuers were flown in by helicopter, where they found and recovered Jabas dead 50 feet down the crevasse covered in snow. The snowmachine was found 40 feet down.
