The Soldotna city manager is looking for input on whether the city should buy a golf course. For months the city council agonized over whether to purchase Birch Ridge Golf Course.

On Thursday night the city council is expected to hear a resolution by Tom Boedeker. The city manager wants to determine whether to seek grants as possible funding sources for buying the course.

In the next two years Pat and Myrna Cowan, the course owners, plan to retire. They have offered the course to the city, and would like to know by July if the city is interested.

If the couple fails to work out a deal with the city, they will look to the private sector to find a company that wants to maintain the property as a golf course.
