A two-car collision in Anchorage has left a 19-year-old woman dead. Carmela Bacod of Anchorage was sitting in the passenger side of a Toyota Echo, when the car was struck by a Jeep Cherokee killing her instantly at 12:26 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police Sgt. Matt Bloodgood said the 19-year-old driver Aprillynn Encabo of Anchorage was turning left on 42nd Avenue from southbound Lake Otis Parkway. According to Bloodgood's account, the car pulled in front of the northbound Jeep driven by 24-year-old Breanna Widger of Anchorage.

Much of the impact was taken directly on the passenger side of the Toyota, said Bloodgood.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries that were treated at nearby hospitals.

Citations have not been issued as the investigation is ongoing.
