Jamey Kirk

An accident that occurred Monday morning on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway has left one person dead. Megan Peters an Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman said, the accident occurred near Acorn Street about a mile west of Trunk Road at 8:45 a.m.

It is still unknown as to how many people were involved in the two-vehicle accident.

The road is considered by traffic engineers to be one of the most dangerous in the state, and was initially closed, but by 9:45 a.m. one lane was open, Peters said. Peters stated that after the accident was reported, troopers and medical personnel reported promptly to the scene.
