Alaska Senate Seat Still Contested

KIMO news

More than 90,000 votes for Alaska's Senate seat have yet to be counted. Incumbent Senator Ted Stevens and Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich are only separated by approximately 3,000 votes so the seat could still go to either canidate. The Division of Elections plan to count the majority of early vote and absentee ballots by Wednesday and the remainder by Friday. Officials are confident that the election will be certified by November 25.
Begich is confident that the final tally will award him the Senate seat due to the strong push by Democrats to encourage early and absentee voters.
