Anchorage's acting mayor announced more cuts to the city budget yesterday of around 3-million dollars.

Anchorage is facing a budget shortfall of 17-million dollars and with these latest cuts Matt Claman says more than half has been made up.

The majority of these latest cuts come from the fire department where 14 vacant positions will remain unfilled through this year. Of those 14, ten are positions that opened up do to retirements. In addition, the next Firefighter Academy has been postponed until the summer of 2010.
