Alaska Congressman Don Young says he's attending the Kenai Classic Banquet.
The banquet is a popular fundraising event for the Kenai River Sportsfishing Association and its programs to safeguard one of the
state's premier rivers.
The banquet was to be held at the Soldotna Sports Center Wednesday night. The event has long attracted political power brokers from around the country who socialized and trolled for salmon during the annual fundraiser.
A fish weigh-in and photo opportunities will be held at about noon Thursday at Harry Gaines Fish Camp after the boats return to the dock.
The event normally attracts a couple of hundred people.
