Kenai officials told residents at a town hall meeting that current plans call for no additional crude oil to be stored near Mount Redoubt.

When Mount Redoubt erupted several times last spring, residents were worried because millions of gallons of oil were stored in tanks at the Drift River Terminal. No oil was spilled and no one was hurt.

Officials said Monday that no new crude oil will be brought in to the tanks, and two tanks will be cleaned out next year. Roughly 715,000 gallons of oil remain.
