Anchorage police are investigating a burglary at an animal hospital.

Police say a thief Sept. 27 broke into the VCA Alpine Animal Hospital on the Old Seward Highway.

The hospital's "main controlled drug safe" was removed and stolen. The hospital's "daily use controlled drug safe" was opened and all the contents were taken.

The drugs taken included morphine, Phenobarbital and Ketamine.

Also taken was Fentanyl and Diazepam.

Police say one drug stolen is used to euthanize animals and would be fatal to people.

The missing gray safe was 3-feet by 2-feet.
