Alaska Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell says he will file to keep the job he was appointed to in July.

Campbell says he intends to announce his candidacy for lieutenant governor Monday and file paperwork with the Division of Elections.

The Republican in a press release says he's running to ensure that conservative values continue to have a strong voice in the governor's office and to ensure individual liberties and freedoms are not threatened by state government.

Campbell says he wants to make sure Alaska residents never have to pay an income tax or statewide sales tax to receive the services that government is obligated to provide to residents.

Campbell was appointed to replace Sean Parnell after Gov. Sarah Palin resigned and Parnell was elevated to governor.
