WASHINGTON D.C. - Senator Lisa Murkowski is defending the massive piece of Global Warming Legislation that she attached her name to this week – the Low Carbon Economy Act of 2007 was announced on Wednesday.

The bill targets the energy industry and will force businesses to buy and trade Carbon Credits or reduce their amounts of Carbon Emissions.

It will cost the private sector up to $25-billion dollars a year for the credits. Some of that money could be used to pay the increased energy costs for low-income households. "I won't argue that we need to probably do more. The question is if you push it too far, too fast, you compromise the health and strength of the economy," said Senator Lisa Murkowski -(R).

The bill is still a proposal at this point, it's being revised in the Senate Environment and Public Works' Committee.
