ANCHORAGE – The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport opened its doors to the new consolidated car rental facility on Wednesday.
Operations were in full swing as travelers accessed the new car rental location. The convenience of the facility is going to cost travelers a little more than $4 per day, every day that they rent a car.
The four level garage will house up to 1,200 vehicles. It has 8-fueling lanes and even a car wash.
ABC Alaska News talked with employees and travelers on Wednesday to see what they thought of the new location. A Dollar Thrifty employee, Dan McGowan spoke of the new facility, saying that, "Its a state of the art facility and its gonna make our job a whole lot easier. Literally 100's of vehicles a day were backed down to our shop a mile away and now it saves us all kinds of time."
Jennifer Koenig, of Enterprise Rental Car said, "Many of our travelers this morning are from outta state so they may not have known what it was like before so its hard to judge. But as the months go on we will be able to compare that with our business travelers that are regulars."
"This facility right her compares top flight like any other major international airport now," said business traveler, Bryan Bulloch.
The center will open some 200-parking spots by next month.
