ANCHORAGE – Detectives say that they suspect foul play in the disappearance of an Anchorage woman, now missing for a week. Her car was found yesterday, on Thursday, near the airport and today, on Friday, her friend is speaking out.
Friends of Mindy Schloss say her disappearance is not in her character and believe that something's gone wrong. Anchorage Police found Schloss's red Acura Integra near the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. It was parked on Old International Airport road, near the Alaska Airlines Cargo Loading area.
Detectives on this case suspect foul play and are searching her car for clues or anything that might tell them where she is.
Mindy Schloss was last seen at her home in south Anchorage last Friday. The 52-year old is described as being 5-feet, 7-inches tall. She has brown hair and gray-blue eyes.
Schloss missed a flight from Anchorage to Fairbanks where she Nurses. Detectives are hoping someone saw Mindy Schloss Friday, with another person or people.
Meantime, friends say she is a reliable person, rarely mises appointments and wouldn't just take-off without telling anybody. And, friends say, she especially wouldn't drive to the Airport since she lives so close, but they hold out hope.
“'til I'm faced with evidence something happened, I'm hopeful, Police are concerned it's foul play, it's out of character for her, she's stable, predictable person, followed routine, it makes you feel nobody's safe because this is really out of the usual for her,” Gerri Yett, Mindy's friend said.
If you know anything about the whereabouts of Mindy Schloss, you're asked to call Anchorage Police at 786-8900. There's a $1,000-reward if your tips leads to an arrest.
Right now the Anchorage Police are hopefully optimistic that Mindy will be found. Police are still acting under the assumption that she's alive. They are looking at kidnapping among other things – they have no indication that she's dead – so, it still is a missing persons case, authorities just suspect foul play.
