AK Teen Pleads Guilty to Negligent Homicide

A 15-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and felony assault in a shooting that left a teen dead and another seriously wounded.

Kevin Michaud entered the pleas Wednesday in juvenile court in Juneau, and was ordered held in a juvenile facility for up to two years. He originally had been charged with second-degree murder in the Dec. 10 shooting that killed 14-year-old Aidan Neary and seriously injured 14-year-old Chase Schneider. Police say five boys were at Michaud's home in the Mendenhall Valley when he fired a handgun that had been taken from a locked cabinet.

The Juneau Empire says Mike Michaud, Kevin's father, said Thursday he would not comment about his son's case.
