The mayor of the southeast Alaska community of Saxman has resigned.
Dan Williams stepped down at Wednesday's regular meeting of the Saxman City Council.
Vice Mayor Richard Makua was appointed to replace Williams at a special meeting Friday.
Williams says he resigned because he has more important things to do in his job as maintenance director at Cape Fox Corp.
Williams was appointed to the City Council in October to fill a vacancy.
At the same time, he was selected by the council members to serve as mayor.
