A 76-year-old California man on board a boat that flipped outside Juneau has died.

Robert Earl Lehnhart of Lake Forest was one of seven people thrown into the water Monday when the 22-foot boat with a canvas top capsized outside of Tee Harbor.

Lehnhart was with family headed back to Juneau after vacationing in the St. James Bay area.

A small craft advisory was in effect, with 28 mph winds and 5-foot waves forecast.

State Trooper Sgt. Matt Dobson says waves came over the bow and
spun the boat so it took on broadsides, which led to the capsizing.
Lehnhart was trapped underneath.

The fishing boat Loyal Lady hooked the bow of the boat and winched it out of the water and Lehnhart was pulled out. He was pronounced dead at Bartlett Regional Hospital.
